Top Cuban Wrestlers at Pan American Festival in Mexico

HAVANA TIMES — Olympic champion and four-time world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, Mijaín Lopez, heads the Cuban delegation that will compete July 15-17 in the Pan American Sports Festival in Mexico.

According to JIT Online, the presence of Cuba’s top male wrestler corresponds to the importance of the event, which will award the winners with direct tickets for the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games.

The Cuban delegation to the Mexican sports festival includes 122 men and 88 women,with a mix of top young athletes and reserves who will participate in 20 of the 23 scheduled sports.

According to the calendar, the first Cubans to compete will be the women greco-roman and freestyle wrestlers on July 15.
