TS Karl Nears Gulf, Cuba Normal

HAVANA TIMES, Sept. 15 — Tropical Storm Karl is concluding its passage through the Yucatan peninsula on Wednesday evening in route to the Gulf of Mexico with another land encounter predicted by the National Hurricane Center (NHC) for the east coast in the state of Veracruz or Tamaulipas sometime Friday.  Cuba was never threatened by TS Karl.

Karl “knocked out power to tens of thousands of people throughout the mainly rural area Majahual, home to a large cruise ship port, that bore the brunt of the storm as it made landfall, but no serious damage was reported,” notes Reuters on the storm passing through the eastern part of the Yucatan.

The NHC sees Karl becoming a hurricane before it reenters Mexico.
