UN to Allocate $150 million to Cuba

HAVANA TIMES — The United Nations and Cuban government signed in Havana a strategic cooperation agreement for the period 2014-2018, involving US $151.8 million, reported Diario de Cuba.

The funds programmed by the UN agencies, funds and participating programs, in the agreed upon areas, have as a priority the process of economic reforms taking place on the island.

According to Cuban authorities the areas benefitted by the assistance include, social programs and services, the productive sector, local development, food security, environmental sustainability and disaster management.
