HAVANA TIMES, March 3 – The US Congress began debate Tuesday on the draft budget for 2009, which includes a measure that would allow Cuban-Americans to travel to Cuba once a year instead of every three years as established by the legislation signed by George W. Bush in 2004. The initiative also includes the lifting of some current restrictions on the sale of food and medicines to the island, reported IPS.
However, the bill does not address the issue of the travel ban on the rest of US citizens nor other aspects of the nearly 50-year US blockade on the Caribbean island nation.
