US Yachts Still Unauthorized to Participate in Cuban Regatta

HAVANA TIMES, April 13 — US yacht owners are still waiting permission from their government to travel to Havana to participate in the race sponsored by the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

“We have this race scheduled for April 27, the 20th anniversary of the yacht club, which will be held out in front of the Havana seawall. Many yacht crews from the United States want to come, but so far that opportunity has not been confirmed,” said commodore Jose Miguel Diaz.

The Hemingway International Yacht Club is internationally recognized by more than 600 sailing clubs all over the world and has 2,157 associates in 60 countries – including the US.
