HAVANA TIMES, April 2 — Cuban physician Jeovany Vega Jimenez ended his hunger strike on Sunday after being reauthorized by Cuban authorities to practice medicine, reported Cubaencuentro website.

Jimenez himself announced via Twitter that: “I have just received resolution No.185, issued yesterday by the Ministry of Health, allowing me to resume my practice here in Cuba!”

Vega Jimenez was hospitalized last week after marking 25 days on his hunger strike in which he was demanding Cuban authorities to repeal ministerial decisions that since 2006 had prevented him from exercising his profession.

Jimenez Vega as well as Dr. Rodolfo Martinez Vigoa had been prohibited from practicing their professions after the two of them protested to the Ministry of Public Health asking for a review of their salaries.
