Major Exhibition of Chinese Prints in Havana

HAVANA TIMES, April 2 — The exhibit “Engravings of the New China” (1949-2009) was opened on Saturday by the Chinese ambassador, Zhang Tuo, at the San Francisco de Asis Convent in Old Havana, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

The show consists of 60 works from a collection of 700 pieces held by Hunan Art Publishing House. According to the diplomat, the aim of the exhibit is to contribute to the strengthening of cultural relations between the peoples of China and Cuba.

Curator Cheng Ronyi explained that the exhibition is a testimony of the changes in socialist development and culture that occurred in China over the past 50 years.

The works will be on view for the Havana public through April 14.
