Havana and Ciego de Avila Lead Cuban Basketball

HAVANA TIMES, Dec 15 — Cuban first division basketball is taking a break in its season until January 16, 2012, leaving the Havana and Ciego de Avila teams tied at the top of the standings, reported the Trabajadores weekly.

The two teams secured identical 14-6 win-loss records following their respective victories this past Monday, though Havana’s “Capitalinos” edged out the Ciego de Avila “Buffaloes” in total points scored.

Apparently the upcoming fight will concentrate around the dispute for third and fourth positions to qualify for the league semifinals, with eight games to go in the regular season.
