Havana Wins Volleyball League

HAVANA TIMES — The capital’s team secured its victory and retained the title in the Ninth National League of men’s volleyball, defeating Sancti Spiritus on Tuesday, three sets to zero, reported JIT Online.

Of the three matches in the dispute for gold, this was the only one that was comfortable for the Havana players, who won the first contest in five sets on Sunday, but on Monday succumbed in a game that was also extended as a tiebreaker.

Cuba’s head coach, Orlando Samuels, announced the 19 men who are making up the shortlist from which his team will be selected for the most important international tournaments in 2013.
