Yosvani Peraza Home Run Leader

HAVANA TIMES, Dec 21 — The catcher for the baseball team from Pinar del Rio Province, Yosvani Peraza, became the leading homerun hitter of the 2011-2012 Cuban baseball league when he connected two on Tuesday against pitchers from the capital city’s Metropolitanos team.

Peraza has now batted seven homeruns in the series – one more than both Granma Province’s Alfredo Despaigne and Eriel Sanchez from the Sancti Spiritus squad.

However his recent homers served little more than to take him around the diamond, since he knocked the ball out of the park on only one occasion with a man on base, and has only 10 RBIs.
