HAVANA TIMES, Dec 15 — Cuba welcomed a total of 2.3 million visitors in this past January-October period, though this figure could reach 2.7 million by the end of this year, according to the National Statistics Office,

November and December are marked by numerous events that contribute to the high season for tourism on the island, which is why the Ministry of Tourism is expecting to exceed the number for 2010 by 200,000 visits.

So far Canada has been the largest source of visitors to the Caribbean island, with more than 820,000 visitors; followed by England, Italy and Spain. Behind those three countries are France, Germany, Argentina, Mexico, Russia and Venezuela.
