Cuba Warns of Flotilla Incursion

HAVANA TIMES, Dec. 7 — The website Cubadebate on Monday described as “new US provocations” a possible fleet incursion into Cuban territorial waters on December 9, the eve of International Human Rights Day.

The flotilla organized by exiles is scheduled to leave Key West to launch fireworks off the coast of Cuba in an action that “will endanger air navigation and could cause some concern on the part of the capital’s population living near the coast,” said the official website

For his part, Ramon Saul Sanchez, the president of the Democracy Movement (the organization responsible for the initiative), said the fleet will be monitored by security personnel who will ensure that none of the crews attempt to enter their vessels into Cuban waters, according to statements in the Punto de Vista blog.
