Cuban Shipyard to Make Repairs after 25 Years

HAVANA TIMES, Dec. 8 — After 25 years of operation, the Cuban company Astilleros del Caribe will be making capital repairs to its containment embankment, whose holding capacity is 4,500 tons, according to a report from AIN.

Located in Havana Bay, this year the company repaired 20 national vessels. Other repairs were made to foreign vessels, mainly Mexican, for which the island received nearly two million dollars.

According to a company official, their fleet is involved in the dredging of economically important ports and in strengthening maritime cargo transport, which is one of the most efficient means of transportation given the country’s status as an island.
