Frank Fernandez Invited to Re-opening of Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow

HAVANA TIMES, March 12 — Cuban pianist and composer Frank Fernandez has been invited to the reopening of the Bolshoi Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, set for on March 22, according to statements by the artist in Havana.

Fernandez was asked to perform Concerto Number 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, one of the most beautiful and most complex in the entire classical repertoire, and considered in Russia as “the most Russian of all the concertos,” said Fernandez.

The Caribbean pianist is a degree-holder from that same conservatory, where he graduated with high honors as a student under Professor Victor Merzhanov. Fernandez has subsequently led a long, distinguished career as a performer, composer, arranger and teacher.
