Cuban-British Woman Crowned World Triple Jump Champion

HAVANA TIMES, March 13 — The Cuban-British triple jumper Yamile Aldama was crowned world champion at the recently concluded 39th World Athletics Indoors Championships in Turkey.

Aldama set a record as the youngest woman in track and field history to achieve the spectacular mark of 14.82 meters in her discipline.

This result, which has been highlighted in the Cuban media on the island, places the athlete at the door for selection by Great Britain for the upcoming Olympic Games in London, according to the Café Fuerte website.
