HAVANA TIMES, Jan 10 — The Cuban men’s team volleyball rose to fifth place in the world ranking of the International Volleyball Federation, said the Trabajadores newspaper.
The national team, coached by Orlando Samuels, accumulated 160.25 points to finish behind Brazil, Russia, Italy and Poland, but ahead of the United States, Serbia, Argentina, Bulgaria and China.
Last year the Cubans finished eighth in the World League, first in the Norceca Volleyball Confederation, second in the Pan American Games and fifth in the World Cup.
