Ibero-American Triathlon in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES —The Ibero-American Triathlon Championship concluded last Sunday in Havana, an event held for the first time in Cuba, and where the island obtained no medals.
Marcel Zamora of Spain, with a time of 4:20:56 hours for the men, and the French Matilde Batallier (5:16:03) for the women won the middle distance.
Meanwhile, Argentina’s Juan Manuel Ascapone took the long distance with a time of 10:41:19 hours. Among females Katlyn Smith of the USA stopped the clocks at 12 hours, 53 minutes and 12 seconds.
A total of 372 athletes competed from 29 nations, covering a wide circuit encompasing Artemisa Province and the capital municipalities of Playa, Marianao, Centro Habana and Plaza de la Revolución.
