Eastern Cuba Continues to Feel Tremors
Quakes felt in Santiago de Cuba, Granma and Guantanamo provinces
HAVANA TIMES – The increase in seismic activity continues south of Santiago de Cuba and tremors were felt yesterday in the neighboring provinces of Granma and Guantanamo. No human or material damages were reported.
Earthquakes on Saturday afternoon were registered at 4.1, 3.6 and 3.1, on the Richter scale, according to the Cuban National Seismological Service. The experts report a total of 31 earthquakes since January 17.
The strongest quake on Saturday occurred at 2:52 pm local time. It was felt in several towns of Santiago de Cuba province, in the city Bayamo and the town of Bartolome Maso in Granma province, as well as in the city of Guantanamo and the town of Caimanera in Guantanamo province, reported Juventud Rebelde.
