Alicia Cubells, a Special Woman I Interviewed in Prague

Nonardo Perea

HAVANA TIMES — While in Prague recently, I had the good fortune of meeting a young female entrepreneur, who let me get an insight into her life.

Alicia Cubells is one of these people who leave their mark deep in people’s hearts; at least with me, she captivated me from the very first moment I saw her, first for being a woman, and for the record I’m a feminist and almost all of my work, whether that’s literature or any other art form, has a great female influence.

I would have liked to have gotten to know her better, even though I believe that we already knew each other, because our meeting was wonderful; we talked like we had known each other for years; we laughed. She shared some of her experiences with me off of camera, about how her life is in the Czech Republic, about the cold and snow, what she likes, about her small daughter. She spoke fluidly and with trust, which didn’t make me feel like a stranger who was just there to do a simple class project.

Now, sitting in Havana, I’m watching the interview I did with her and have picked up on mistakes, I think that it could have been much better, but even so, I’m delighted to know that Alicia Cubells exists, and that there are many other wonderful people who are worth getting to know, because Prague is full of women like her.

Nonardo Perea: I see myself as an observant person and I like to write with sincerity what I think and live first hand. I’m shy and of few words; thus it’s difficult for me to engage in conversation. For that reason, my best tool for communicating is writing. I live in Marianao, Havana and am 40 years old.
