Dreaming of Being a Poet
By Ariel Glaria Enriquez
HAVANA TIMES – Cecilia and I used to live together. She had different interests, but she supported my dream of becoming a poet.
Her support meant my life became very easy; I didn’t do anything, I didn’t even write. I spent most of my time reading and making love.
And, she made me the center of her world. She became impulsive in love. She only thought about the present, her job and money.
However, while I responded to her loving energy with the vanity of my reciprocated passion, I held onto a dream that made me long for the future, think that any job was an empty routine and I didn’t think about money.
That’s how the first gap appeared between us which I made into an abyss, lost in my young fantasy.
Now that I haven’t made my dream of becoming a poet come true, now that the present is the only thing that exists for me and I don’t think about anything but my work and money, I’m sure that Cecilia wouldn’t have given up. But… who would know now anyway?
