Santiago Feliú in Concert

HAVANA TIMES, Oct 26 – Last week we were treated to a great concert with Santiago Feliú. Among his songs we heard “Planet Cuba,” the beautiful ballad “Sostener mi amor”, as well as “Sin tanta soledad,” “La illusion”, and other compositions that brought back fond memories for my generation.
When Santiago declared, “I sing for you, my immense minority public,” that same audience immediately responded with shouts of “You’re one of us,” “Santiago we love you,” “Keep on singing,” and many other cries of encouragement.
Not everyone appreciates a singer who identifies with a public that likes long hair, beards, shorts, long skirts and loose fitting clothes and sandals, as they sit on the floor and enjoy good music.
Thus, it’s not strange that television and other media didn’t cover the concert with as much enthusiasm as they’ve showed for others, but Santiago’s public will always stick by him.
