Buena Vista Artist Featured in Film

HAVANA TIMES, Dec. 9 – How can you talk about the career of a musician without going into their early development?  This was what producer Jorge Alberto Contreras Cruz asked himself when he thought about making the documentary “My Trombone” (2008), dedicated to Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos.

That’s why he visited the Cuban province of Pinar del Rio, the place where “Aguaje” was born and where his passion for music was aroused.  There, the producer reveals to us Ramos’s family, his city, along with the thoughts of his friends.

The trombonist has ended up mastering the instrument, spawning diverse emotions in all those who listen to him.

Over time he became the leader of one of the most famous groups in Cuba: the Buena Vista Social Club.   At a time in which popular music has become more aggressive, the work with his group is commendable.  He continues playing and carrying Cuban music to all parts of the world.
