Cuban Pitcher Remains in Serious Condition
HAVANA TIMES, Dec 26 — Cuban pitcher Norge Luis Vera is reported in very serious condition with a guarded prognosis, 72 hours after his being in a car accident, according to today’s Granma newspaper.
On Sunday, the star pitcher from Santiago de Cuba was taken off of sedatives and regained a fairly conscious state, judging by the positive manner in which he communicated extra-verbally with the medical staff.
Vera suffered severe head trauma and was admitted to the Provincial Hospital of Santiago de Cuba, where he remains attached to artificial respiration equipment.
His doctors consider it a positive sign that he has not experienced any complications so far, while his vital signs remain within acceptable limits.
