Tremors Felt in Central Cuban Province
HAVANA TIMES — A tremor measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale was felt on Thursday in the central Cuban province of Ciego de Avila, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.
The network of the National Seismological Service recorded the tremor at 20:23 local time, and determined its epicenter to be at the coordinates 22.45 north latitude and 78.29 west longitude, north of the town of Bolivia.
Although there were no reports of human injuries or material damage, the phenomenon is new to residents of this part of Cuba.
The Caribbean country reports 20 to 50 medium-to-moderate-intensity earthquakes annually, mainly in the eastern provinces.
