Oscar D’Leon and Juanes to Appear on Los Van Van’s Next Album
HAVANA TIMES – The iconic Cuban band Los Van Van intends to record a new album this year with the likes of Oscar D’Leon and Juanes, said its director Samuel Formell when speaking to the Venezuelan newspaper Panorama.
“We of Los Van Van want to make a record with guest performers,” said Formell, “with people who have participated with us before. From Venezuela there will appear Oscar y Guaco, from Nicaragua will come Luis Enrique, and Juanes will come from Colombia. This very year we will be working on it.”
According to the Venezuelan newspaper, Los Van Van has taken an open position in support of the Cuban revolution, but they don’t talk about politics in their songs or in their performances.
“For us, it hasn’t been important or even necessary to mention Fidel Castro or the revolution, because they don’t have anything to do with the idiosyncrasies of our country. We prefer to talk about the customs, food, and typical phrases of Cuba, “said the artist.
