Cuba Blogger Bids Goodbye to Her Readers

HAVANA TIMES — Journalist Elaine Diaz, the author of the popular blog La Polemica Digital, announced on Tuesday the closing of that website and said goodbye to her readers.

“From now on I will devote more time to researching and teaching, two activities that I’m passionate about and want to concentrate on more in the coming years,” said the blogger in an article entitled “El ultimo post” (The Last Post).

Founded in March 2008 as “an experimental site for obtaining my bachelor’s degree in journalism,” the young professor’s blog had become a center of discussion concerning some of the most pressing issues on the Cuban agenda.

Elaine recently criticized the performance of the Cuban parliament in an article entitled “Don’t Come to the Assembly,” which referred to the always unanimous votes within that legislative body.
