Cuba and China to Eliminate Tariffs

HAVANA TIMES — The governments of Cuba and China will gradually eliminate tariffs on their products, from what was learned at the recently concluded 25th Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Relations, held in Havana, reported EFE.

Cuban Vice President Ricardo Cabrisas proposed reworking the existing treaty between the two governments to adapt to the current situation of international trade. He said that progress in that direction is expected this year and next.

The VP emphasized the strict adherence to financial obligations with China and the restructuring of Cuba’s debt payments.

More than 200 Chinese companies have business relations with the island’s government and more than 20 Cubans companies and agencies are registered in China.
