European Commission Approves 6 Million Euros for Cuba and Haiti
HAVANA TIMES — The European Commission on Thursday announced an aid package of six million euros to support the victims of Hurricane Sandy in Cuba and Haiti, the two nations most affected in the Caribbean region, reported Europa Press.
The assistance will focus on providing food aid and essential household items to the most vulnerable. A portion of the funding will also help with the repair of homes, water services and the restoration of the agricultural sector through the provision of seeds.
European Commission experts are on the ground to assess the situation and to identify what assistance is needed.
At least 3 million people were affected by the hurricane in Cuba, which has suffered extensive damage to crops, homes and infrastructure.
