Colombia Special Guest at Caribbean Festival in Santiago de Cuba
HAVANA TIMES — Colombia will be the nation of honor at the 33rd Caribbean Festival (of Festival of Fire), scheduled from July 3 to 9 in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, organizers said at a press conference.
According to Orlando Verges, the director of the Casa del Caribe, Colombian artist Bazanta Sonia (popularly known as “Toto”), will participate in the celebration.
Also expected to attend is the African heritage sextet Tabala, from San Basilio de Palenque, as well as the Creole group, San Andres, which plays different rhythms such as calypso and reggae, said Colombian Ambassador Gustavo Adolfo Bell.
According to the note from the Prensa Latina news agency, so far delegations from Argentina, Mexico, Curacao, Venezuela, the USA and Suriname have confirmed their participation in the festival. An estimated 800 foreign guests are expected to attend.
