Organizers of ‘Cuban Music Festival’ Win Trial in Miami

HAVANA TIMES — The promoters of a Cuban music festival in Miami won their lawsuit against the Homestead-Miami Speedway organization for it having canceled the event in April 2011, reportó Cafe Fuerte.

After a week of hearings, Judge Sarah Zabel described the owners’ arguments as insufficient and defamatory. She ruled to award of $567,000 to MIA Resorts and Fuego Entertainment MIA for damages.

The “World Festival of Cuban Fire Music” had been scheduled for April 9, 2011, but the speedway owners decided to cancel the event arguing that critical information had been hidden from them.

The event was seeking to bring to the Miami stage Cuban stars like Juan Formell and Los Van Van, David Calzado and his Charanga Habanera, Buena Fe, Moneda Dura, and Pachito Alonso, along with various US musicians.
