Pope Greets Ladies in White Leader
HAVANA TIMES – Pope Francisco briefly greeted Berta Soler, leader of Cuba’s Ladies in White opposition group, after a general audience in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, reports AFP.
According to the note, Soler gave the Pope two letters of wives of political prisoners on the island, while keeping the Cuban flag displayed.
The dissident is on her first international tour seeking “moral and spiritual” support and denouncing the “real” reality of the island. She told the press that the Pope gave her group his blessing and invited them to continue their battle.
I pray the Pope takes up their cause, the cause of freedom, democracy and the respect for human rights in Cuba.
