Castro Speaks Out Against Corruption
HAVANA TIMES, Dec 23 — President Raul Castro called on people to firmly confront the negligence and irresponsibility that damages the national economy. He spoke during a plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
According to reports in the national press, several acts of corruption involving officials of institutions and managers of state enterprises were analyzed at the meeting, though none of these individuals or groups were publicly identified.
Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura reported that the foundations of the party conference to be held next month have been modified from the more than one million views expressed by the membership.
Without mentioning details, he said of the ninety-six initial objectives, seventy-eight have changed and five others were added.
