Cuba Book Fair Leaves Havana, on to Provinces
HAVANA TIMES, Feb 20 — The Havana phase of the 2012 Cuban International Book Fair ended on Sunday after the participation of over 270,000 people at various sites in the capital city, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.
Venezuela’s minister of Culture, Pedro Calzadilla, described the Cuban literary event as one of the most important cultural functions in Latin America, though he hopes to outdo the Cuban experience in his country.
The event in the Cuban capital resulted in sales of more than 600,000 titles, a figure that will continue to increase until the national event winds up on March 4 in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba.
The 2013 fair is dedicated to the cultures of the peoples of Angola, according to its organizers.
