Cuba on Human Rights ‘Black List’ of Washington-based Commission

HAVANA TIMES, April 11 — The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (an autonomous organ of the Organization of American States, or OAS), on Monday included Cuba in its annual list of countries that “seriously affect the enjoyment of fundamental rights.”

The Washington-based commission reported that over the previous year, “Restrictions on political rights of association, freedom of expression and the dissemination of ideas, the lack of choices, the lack of independence of the judiciary and restrictions on freedom of movement (…) have not changed” on the island.

According to a report by AFP, the list also includes Venezuela, Honduras and Colombia.
