Cuba Opens vs. Russia in Volleyball
HAVANA TIMES, July 22 — Cuba opens its final round play in the World Volleyball League on Thursday night against the tough Russian team in Cordoba, Argentina.
With six teams competing, Cuba is in Group F with Italy and Russia while Group E includes Serbia, Brazil and the host Argentina team. After a round robin in each group the top two in each will advance to the semifinal matches.
Cuba had the night off on Wednesday when Russia defeated Italy 3-2 (25-14, 22-25, 26-24, 23-25, 15-7). Brazil also needed five sets to defeat Argentina (25-17, 23-25, 25-20, 19-25 y 15-10).
After the match with Russia the Cubans play Italy on Friday.
