Cuba Tourism Fair Opens
HAVANA TIMES, May 5 – Cuba is “a complete destination,” affirmed Minister of Tourism Manuel Marrero when inaugurating in the Caribbean country’s capital the FITCUBA 2009 Tourism Fair, which is being attended by professionals from 58 countries.
Marrero said the island offers safety, cultural diversity, nature, numerous events and health tourism, and nautical activities.
The tourism fair is a meeting place for foreign tour operators and agencies and Cuban industry business people showing their offers for the coming period.
FITCUBA 2009 takes place this week at the San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress overlooking Havana Bay and the city.
The flow of tourists to Cuba registered a two per cent growth in the winter of 2009, said the Cuban official at the inauguration on Monday. Nevertheless, he pointed out that this year is becoming difficult because of the global financial crisis.
