Cuban Hip Hop Symposium

HAVANA TIMES, August 21 — Today is the final day of the Cuban Hip Hop symposium which began Wednesday at the Plaza Cultural Center in Havana.

“Where did we come from, what do we want and where are we going” was the focus of an event that tries to pick up the pieces and run after the disappearance of the Alamar Rap Festival, the pioneer in the genre.

Magia López, director of the Cuban Rap Agency, said the “Hip Hop for Peace” theme was designed to make visible a contribution from the cultural world against military interventions, violence, including that which is gender motivated, social injustices, discrimination and environmental contamination.
