Cuba’s Awesome Book Fair Begins

HAVANA TIMES, Feb 10 — Cuba’s most well attended annual event is its International Book Fair and the 21st edition kicked off on Thursday at the San Carlos de la Cabaña fortress turned cultural center that overlooks Havana Bay.

This year the fair is dedicated to the Caribbean. It’s Havana segment runs through Feb. 19 and then the book feast travels the provinces through the first week of March.

The opening night gala included the presentation of the vocal group Desandann from Camaguey and Barbados artist Mighty Gabby. The event was attended by Culture Minister Abel Prieto and Vice President Esteban Lazo Hernandez.
