Havana Ballet Festival Presents Choreography Award
HAVANA TIMES — The Cuban dancer and choreographer Irene Rodriguez received in Havana the prize of the Eighth Alicia Alonso Ibero-American Choreography Competition for her work “El crimen fue en Granada,” reported the Prensa Latina news service.
An award of equal merit was given to Israeli dancer and choreographer Sharon Friedman, author of the piece “How far?” which was performed for the occasion. Honorable mentions went to the works “Anoxia,” by Cuban choreographer Osnel Delgado and “Lua,” by Spanish artist Mercedes Suarez.
Since 1998 the General Society of Authors and Editors of Spain and the National Ballet of Cuba have convened this biennial awards ceremony to encourage Latin American choreography in its various styles and genres.
