HAVANA TIMES, March 15 — Havana Province scored five runs in the last two innings to turn the tables and defeat Industriales 7-4 on Monday to even at two each their best-of-seven series for the Western Division title in the Cuban Baseball League.
The score was 4-2 when Havana tied the game in the top of the ninth sending it into extra innings. A costly error by shortstop Rudy Reyes allowed the tying run to score. In the tenth, a three-run homer by Orlando Lavandera was more than enough for the victory.
Reliever Miguel Lahera pitched the final three scoreless innings to get the win allowing three hits and striking out four without a walk. Industriales reliever Frank Montieh took the loss by allowing the homer by Lavandera.
Odrisamer Despaigne, who won game one of the series for Industriales, went 6.2 innings and left the game with a 4-2 lead. Havana’s starter Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez lasted 7 innings allowing four runs on eight hits.
Game Five takes place Tuesday also at Industriales home, the Latinoamericano Stadium in the Cuban capital.
In the Eastern Division finals, Villa Clara seeks a sweep over Ciego de Avila which fights to stay alive. The game was tied 1-1 in the sixth.
