International Boxing Tournament Concludes Today In Cuba
HAVANA TIMES — The final bouts of the 42nd edition of the International Giraldo Cordova Cardin Memorial Boxing Tournament will be held today in the Cuban capital, reports the Prensa Latina news agency.
Only Kazakh athletes Mardan Berikbayev (49 kg) and Askhat Zhenibekov (60), and Sweden’s Yigit Anthony (64 kg) — who were among the 60 foreign fighters that entered the contest — made it to the finals, where they will face Cuban boxers.
The rest of the fights (until completing the 10 divisions in dispute) will be among Cubans, with perhaps the toughest of all to be the duel between Lenier Pero and Jose Angel Larduet, who have each engaged in hard fought battles in recent months.
