Layoffs Could Increase Wages

HAVANA TIMES, Sept. 28 – Cuban Vice President and Minister of Economy and Planning Marino Murillo affirmed that the elimination of inflated payrolls in the state sector could finance wage increases in the immediate future.

In statements to Granma daily published Tuesday, Murillo said that this wage increase would also be possible because of the elimination of excessive subsidies, undue gratuities and the State’s liberation of a group of activities it had assumed until now, reported IPS.
