Major Highway Reconstructed in Eastern Cuba
HAVANA TIMES, Dec 16 — The road along the south-eastern coast between Santiago de Cuba and Granma provinces is currently undergoing construction work that involves significant financial investment, reported Prensa Latina.
Construction crews are busy along the first five miles and by next year must complete close to 18 miles in the mountainous municipality of Guama.
The road — whose more than 90 miles connects places where some of the Rebel Army fought against the Batista dictatorship over 50 years ago — has suffered the brunt of cyclones, landslides and overflowing rivers in recent decades that have cut off villages and left them incommunicado.
