Massive Training for Cuban Census
HAVANA TIMES — Around 59,000 students and 10,000 teachers are set to participate as enumerators and supervisors in the eighteenth “Population and Housing Census” in Cuba.
They will undergo training from September 4 to 11, as well as receive their credentials, T-shirts and other accessories necessary for their surveying work scheduled to take place from March15 to 24, reports the official Granma newspaper.
According to the news article, authorities are defining about 1,500 census areas where offices will be set up for the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the nationwide study.
Since as far back as 1794, Cuba has conducted 17 population censuses, while the counting of dwellings started in 1953.
