Royal Ballet Closing Night in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, July 18 – The Royal Ballet concludes its five performance tour in Cuba on Saturday with a second show at the sold out 5,000 seat Karl Marx Theater in Havana.

Reuters reported today that one of the company’s top stars, Alexandra Anasanelli, 28, has concluded her 14-year professional career, dancing the lead in “A Month in the Country” as her last performance Thursday at the Garcia Lorca Grand Theater in the Cuban capital.

In her farewell to ballet Anasanelli said, “The audience’s reaction was very moving. I feel so blessed to have been on this tour and see the rare quality of Cuban existence — of passion, of life without materialism, without all the excess, is something so uncommon, especially in the life I’ve been exposed to,” reported Reuters.
