Standstill in Bathroom Fixture Production

HAVANA TIMES, Dec 15 — Production has been at a standstill since August at the bathroom fixture plant run by the Empresa de Ceramica Blanca in San Jose, in the province of Mayabeque, reported the Granma newspaper today.

A delay in the import of gypsum has prevented the production of 20,000 hospital fixtures.

According to the director of the company, the areas most affected are Pinar del Rio, Havana, Matanzas and Sancti Spiritus, with production not expected to resume until early next year.

The company produces toilet bowls, sinks and bath tubs for government-run housing programs and now for unrestricted sales of construction and rehab supplies.
