Team Cuba Set for Play in Nicaragua
HAVANA TIMES — The team of Cuban baseball players to play a 5-game exhibition series in Nicaragua was announced over the weekend.
Roger Machado, manager of Ciego de Avila, the recently crowned first time champs of the Cuban Baseball League will guide the team in the international competition that begins on June 16.
The Cuban press noted that the squad is a mix of veterans and younger players.
The following is the complete roster:
Catchers: Yosvani Alarcón (LTU), Yulexis la Rosa (VCL) y Lednier Ricardo (CMG).
Infielders: Alexander Malleta (IND), Yordanis Samón (GRA), Juan Carlos Torriente (IND), Raúl González (CAV), Yurisbel Gracial (MTZ), Erisbel Arruebarruena (CFG) y Yordan Manduley (HOL).
Outfielders: Alfredo Despaigne (GRA), Rusney Castillo (CAV), Alexei Bell (SCU), Guillermo Heredia (MTZ) y Yadiel Hernández (MTZ).
Pitchers: Freddy Asiel Álvarez (VCL), Ismel Jiménez (SSP), Yander Guevara (CAV), Dalier Hinojosa (GTM), Jorge Alberto Martínez (MTZ), Yoanni Yera (MTZ), Erlis Casanova (PRI), Pablo Millán Fernández (HOL) y Danni Aguilera (IJU).
