World Health Director Attends Meeting in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, March 27 — Dr. Margaret Chan addressed an internal meeting today in Havana of the global policy group of the World Health Organization (WHO), the organization she chairs.

According to the Prensa Latina news agency, the meeting is taking place for the first in the Americas, with this one also being attended by WHO regional directors who will visit scientific institutions in Cuba.

On Monday, WHO regional deputy director Anarfi Asamoa-Baah; Luis Sambo, the director for Africa; and Shin Young-soo, the director for the Western Pacific region, visited the Havana Institute of Tropical Medicine, the Ophthalmic Hospital and the Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery.
