Guido Daniele and his ‘Manimales’ Show in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, Abril 1 — “Life is in our hands” seems to say the Italian painter Guido Daniele in his exhibit “Manimales,” in an exhibition displayed last week at the Lombillo Palace Gallery in Havana.
The show consists of displays of photographs of paintings depicting various animals, taken on the hands of their models. They are ephemeral paintings, which are then photographed by Daniele himself so as to perpetuate these works.
The viewer is struck by the diversity of animals that this visual artist is able to reproduce using only hands and arms as his tools.
Guido Daniele was born in the Calabria region of southern Italy and studied at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, in Milan.
In 1972 he began working with major advertising and marketing agencies using different techniques. In 1990, he began to venture into body painting, a technique that he has used to produce admirable collections.
Currently, Guido Daniele is creating everything from artistic images (such as those presented in this exhibition) to advertising and commercial designs, including those used on television programs.
