Children Playing in Havana

HAVANA TIMES – They have fun, oblivious to all kinds of economic, energy or food hardships. They don’t care that the swings and hammocks are made of metal that sometimes scrapes their skin and tears their clothes.

They care even less about playing soccer with a deflated ball on the concrete; there is no gender distinction, boys and girls play together.

The luckiest ones have skates or bicycles. They prepare their own “competitions” where the only thing that matters is having a good time and spending energy. These are scenes that are repeated daily, and that do not leave us indifferent just because they are so commonplace.
